The Turkish coastline is usually divided into four different yacht charter areas:
The Ionian Coast: Izmir - Kusadasi - Güllük - Bodrum, a coastline which claims the to have the best climate and which shores brought forth the rich culture of the Ionians and their great philosophers.
• The Carian Coast: Bodrum - Marmaris, the most popular sailing ground which includes the two largest yacht charter bases in Turkey: Bodrum and Marmaris.
The west Lycian Coast: Marmaris - Fethiye, the pirate coast with its wild, mountainous shores and hundreds of hidden coves.
The east Lycian Coast: Kas - Finike - Antalya, rock tombs and solid stone sarcophagi.

Climate in Turkey
Turkey is a sailor's dream, the cruising is superb with good breezes and sheltered anchorages. In the summer months, the winds in the Sea of Marmaris and the Aegean are predominately from the north and west. The coasts of Turkey offer excellent cruising spring through autumn. The days are sunny, dry, and warmer in the summer, with consistent winds. Temperatures average in the mid-70's (23°C) spring and fall and in the low 90's (30°C) in the summer. The peak tourist season is during high summer, roughly between July and September. From June the mosquitoes can be a problem. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit, as the climate is still hot, but not unbearable.

Visa for Turkey
No visa necessary for the inhabitants of the European Union. For US passport holders, a visa is required, which is valid for up to three months, and can be obtained from the point of entry.

Airports
ATM Dalaman Airport (DLM). The airport is situated about four miles (6km) from Dalaman.

From Dalaman airport : Bodrum 3h, Marmaris 1h30, Gocek 25mn, Fethiye 1h

Izmir Adnan Menderes International Airport (ADB). The airport is located 11 miles (18km) from Izmir.
From Izmir airport : Bodrum 3h30, Marmaris 4h, Gocek 5h30, Fethiye 6h

Antalya International Airport (AYT). The airport is situated six miles (10km) from Antalya.
From Antalya airport : Finike, 1h30, Fethiye 3h

Currency
The official currency is the New Turkish Lira (TRY). Banks open mainly Monday to Friday, but some are open daily in tourist areas. ATMs are widely available in major cities and tourist areas.

We could provide a skipper service for your first day's sail from our base to familiarize the crew with the boat. To charter a sailing yacht in Turkey it is only necessary for one crew member to have a good skipper resume.
