The Cyclades Islands cluster is a group of Greek Islands situated in the deep blue Aegean Sea. It is considered one of the finest vacation destinations worldwide, providing visitors with a wide range of diverse characteristics. Each island though has several specific characteristics that make it stand out from the rest, making the islands absolutely unique, each in its own way.

Prevalling wind in the Cyclades.
The prevailing wind in the summer is the famous meltemi blowing from the N-NW. The meltemi begins to blow fitfully at first in June, blows strongest in July, August and September, and dies during October. In July and August the meltemi blows at Force 5-6 and may reach Force 7-8 on occasions. It may blow for 1-3 days or it may sometimes blow for 2 weeks at a time. There is no way of knowing for just how long it will blow. It has a thermal component in that it loses some strength at night and increases again in the day.

Marinas & starting points

Alimos / Kalamaki (Athens)
Alimos Marina on the NE shore of the Saronikos Bay, is the largest Marina in the Balkans, with a dominating position in the Attica Basin. The Alimos Marina has 1,100 mooring berths. Located 45 minutes from the Athens International Airport. The Marina can be accessed by taxi or by a bus which departs every 15 minutes.
Water & electricity on the pier are free of charge. Fuel is delivered at the pier by a fuel wagon.Within the marina there are snack-bar/café, several kiosks offering sandwiches and soft drinks, card-telephones, toilets and showers. Also, there is a variety of restaurants, including Greek and Italian cuisine, on and around Poseidonos Avenue.

Lavrion
The Marina is situed an hour away from the Athens International Airport. The marina can be accessed by bus or taxi. It is in many aspects a more convenient yacht charter base to explore the Cyclades from than the Alimos / Kalamaki marina in Athens. The distances from the International Athens Airport are roughly the same. Many facilities in the harbour : water, electricity and fuel. There are also two supermarkets nearby the marina for your provisioning and many quality taverns, restaurants, cafes and bars are located within walking distance of the port.. Therefore, this less known port of Lavrion is sometimes called the gate of the Cyclades.

Santorini
One of the best and most beautiful islands of the Cyclades differs from the other ones thanks to its geological morphology, result of an action by a volcano now dormant and the unusual architecture of the white houses. Its many archaelogical sites with 4000 year old paintings will make your visit an unforgettable journey.

Syros

The marina is situated in the bay of Foinikas on the southwest coast of Syros island .The taxi ride from the airport to the marina takes about 20 minutes. Water and electricity on the quay. Fuel is delivered on the quay by a mini tanker, public shower and toilet available. Most provisions can be found at near by mini markets. There are several tavernas at the harbour and around the waterfront.

Paros
The marina is located in Paroikia bay. The taxi ride from the airport to the marina takes about 20 minutes. The ferry terminal from the marina is within walking distance. There are two supermarkets nearby the marina.Many quality tavernas, restaurants, cafes and bars are located within walking distance of the marina.

Mykonos
The world famous cosmopolitan of all Greek Islands with plenty to do by day or night. This legendary jet set resort, where many movie stars and famous artists sepnd their holidays is popular for its natural beauty.


Airport
Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH), daily flights from Europe. The airport is situated 20 miles (33km) south east of Athens city centre. The easiest way to reach the city centre from the airport is on board new Metro connects the airport with Syntagma Square and Monastiraki.
